Yahoo!

As most of you know, I have been writing for Associated Content for a couple of years.  AC was bought out by Yahoo! earlier this year.  It seems to have actually been a good thing.  I have had opportunities to write for other Yahoo! sites, such as Shine and Lifestyle, as have many other AC writers.  Last night, Yahoo! launched some more changes to the site, including a name change.  The new name is Yahoo! Contributor Network.  Apparently you will still be able to access my profile page when you search for Dena Bolton Associated Content Contributor Profile; however, I would also recommend that you go ahead and bookmark my Yahoo! Contributor Network profile.  As I understand it, you will also eventually be able to access my other articles throughout the Yahoo! network; although, this option is not available at the moment.  I have also recently published some new articles to YCN, including some recipes that you might like to try this holiday season.  One that seems to be a particular favorite is my Recipe for Oat Bread, which can be made in just one hour.  It's a quick, easy recipe that is great for those of us who do not bake.

Thanks to all of you who follow my blog and read my various articles!

Food Alternatives

If you like to cook, you are probably always looking for different recipes or alternatives to tried-and-true favorites.  Following are a couple of articles that will give you some ideas:

5 Alternatives to Bread -- I'm not a big bread eater; however, I have found alternatives that I really prefer.

Alternative Seasonings for Dried Beans -- As the weather cools, we seem to gravitate to hearty foods, such as beans.  This article tells you how to spice up a regular bowl of beans.

Do you like good food?

I am starting a new blog called Dena's Restaurant Reviews.  I will be reviewing various locally-owned restaurants in the area, letting people know about new restaurants, giving you info about restaurants with which you might not be familiar, and more.  I used to write restaurant reviews many years ago and have done a few online over the past couple of years.  I really enjoy it and thought I would share my experiences with you.  Hope you will subscribe to this new blog and join me as I dine out in the area.

A list of unusual houseplants

Vicks Plant
If you are looking for something new and different to add to your collection of houseplants, there are some unusual houseplants available.  Most are actually quite easy-to-grow.  Try any or all of these:

Vicks Plant -- It actually smells like Vick's Vap-O-Rub!  Works much like it, too.

Arboreum -- How about a black plant for your collection?

Orchid Cactus -- Want to know how easy it is to grow this one?  I nicknamed it the "kudzu cactus."

Polka Dot Begonia -- Who cares if this begonia ever blooms?  The polka dot leaves are really neat looking.

Cape Jasmine Gardenia -- Fill your home with the smell of gardenia!

Kalanchoe -- Buy one in every color!
